  • Message from AIA - Spring Sports

Posted by Shannon Scott on 3/30/2020 12:00:00 PM
Arizona governor Doug Ducey announced today the cessation of all on-campus learning at the state’s schools through the spring semester. This decision includes all school-sponsored extracurricular sports and activities. As such, the remainder of the AIA spring season and championships have been cancelled.
“This is an unfortunate circumstance for all of our member schools, students and coaches,” said AIA Executive Director David Hines. “We know this decision was a hard one, but one that was necessary to assist in the well-being of everyone across Arizona. We hope everyone stays healthy and focused on what the next chapter will bring.”
AIA sports at all levels are cancelled for the remainder of the school year. Additionally, all activities are cancelled, including official esports competitions. Esports teams may continue to compete in scrimmage mode only via PlayVS.
The 2020 Champions Gala is still scheduled to take place, however it will only be done through a virtual platform. Until details of the event are finalized, school administrators and coaches can continue to nominate their very deserving student-athletes through April 3 at http://aiaonline.org/awards/nomination-forms.
“We really feel for everyone involved with our schools,” AIA Executive Board President Jeannine Brandel added. “So many have worked very hard for their chance to win a state championship, especially this year’s seniors. But we encourage you to still be students and to still be athletes. Strive to better yourselves during this time.”
AIA administrators will continue to be available for the remainder of the school year. With most staff working virtually, please allow time for responses to any inquiries.

    Breakfast & Lunch

    General Information

Sanders Unified School District will offer free breakfast and lunch meals to students and their families at the 5 locations throughout the district.  This will occur on weekdays from Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27.  Food will only be available in grab-and-go packaging to avoid congregating. To prioritize social distancing, families are not allowed to eat on site.  SUSD is not able to provide transportation for people to obtain these meals.

Breakfast and lunch will be available to pick up at the same time from 10:30am to 1:30 pm on Monday through Friday.

In order to maximize our federal funding for student meal services, we ask that children be present to receive their meals.

Any child 18 years old and under eligible to eat under this program even if he/she is not a SUSD student.

Families can pick up student meal from any locations listed below, regardless of the school that a child attends or even if the child does not attend a SUSD school.  (For Chapter House Locations – Look for the SUSD School Bus)

    • Lupton Chapter House-Across the Chapter House
    • Houck Chapter House-East of the Chapter
    • Wide Ruins Chapter House-Tanner Springs Turn Around
