Mr. Charles Gover

Mr. Charles Gover has been employed in education for the past 30+ years. His background experience includes everything from a substitute teacher and classroom aide through principalship and Interim Superintendent.  He has successfully taught grades from 7th to 12th and has also used his talents coaching 8th grade to High School Varsity State Championship level teams for both boys’ and girls’ athletics.

Mr. Gover began his classroom experience in Special Education as a classroom aide. During that time period, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education degree along with Arizona Teacher Certification from Prescott College. He began working as an itinerant teacher working both in junior high and high school capacities.

During his tenure, he has served as a department chair, superintendent’s advisory committee, teacher liaison for the Native American Parents Advisory Committee (NAPAC) and has served as a sports club sponsor and mentor. He has formed relationships with parents, teaching and coaching peers, as well as members of different communities.  He believes that his successful teaching/coaching career has molded him to assume leadership positions.

Mr. Gover continually sought out best practices for teaching methods during his 15+ years of managing his own classroom. Because Mr. Gover has placed strong importance on education, he returned to school. He received his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.

During his time spent as an administrator, he has been able to gain valuable experience in teacher evaluations, student discipline, staff development, budgeting and purchasing, and general office duties and responsibilities.

He has served as the site administrator for Special Education and Section 504 meetings, been involved in long-term suspension hearings, hiring interviews, parent and teacher conferences, as well as being engaged in the beginning and end of the school year processes.  He understands the roles of students, personnel, transportation, and athletics. He has a strong understanding of the curriculum and has implemented his knowledge to help schools achieve state-mandated standards across the board.

Mr. Gover believes that working in collaboration builds a stronger school team.  This sense of team extends from the professional staff to the classified staff. Each member of the team, no matter what level, is important for your child’s success.  It is his feeling that education is learner-centered. All school initiatives revolve around this concept, whether it is academic or social. To make this happen, open communication, fairness, and doing what is best for the learner, is the priority.

His knowledge, skill, work ethic, and experience continues to be a great asset to SES in obtaining its goals while realizing its vision and mission.  He continually assists the teaching staff in planning and implementing lessons utilizing best practices. Mr. Gover supports and provides leadership and development opportunities that are expected by the staff, along with treating each member of the team professionally.  He requires all faculty and staff to raise their level of expectations and is committed to providing all students with a high-quality education. He believes that education is extremely important and will help develop pathways for all students to be successful.
