Tax Credit

Arizona Tax Credit Donations

Arizona law allows individuals to redirect a portion of their state tax liability to support public schools—and it won’t cost you a penny. By making a tax credit donation, you can help fund vital extracurricular programs, character education, and classroom resources that enrich students’ experiences.

What is a Tax Credit?

A tax credit is different from a tax deduction. A tax credit reduces your final state tax bill, dollar-for-dollar.
  • Do you owe Arizona state income taxes? You can donate up to $200 (if filing single) or $400 (if filing jointly) to a public school.
  • Your donation is dollar-for-dollar credited against your state tax bill—meaning if you owe $400 in state taxes and donate $400, your tax payment is reduced by that full amount.
  • Donations must be made by April 15 of the following tax year to qualify for the credit.

Where Your Donation Goes

Your contribution supports programs that aren’t fully funded through regular school budgets, such as:
  • Athletics and fine arts (band, theater, visual arts)
  • Academic clubs (robotics, debate, science Olympiad)
  • Field trips and outdoor education
  • Character education and leadership development

You can even designate your gift to a specific school or program within our district—like your child’s school or a favorite activity.
