Letter from the Superintendent

Welcome to the SUSD website. My name is Dan Hute, Superintendent for Sanders Unified School District. It has been my pleasure to work for the district the last six years as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and now Superintendent.

Sanders Unified School District made many changes last year. We have raised the accountability of all students and staff to perform at their best. We have faced many challenges along the way. I believe that SUSD has moved to a higher place related to expectations and rigor of student learning.

Our community has faced many obstacles related to water and it has caused us to grow closer together. SUSD wants the best for all of our students. This starts with the best teachers, best schools, and best support system starting with our school board on down. I believe we have achieved quite a bit but there is always room for growth. SUSD cannot just stand on the improvements we have made but must move forward focused on the success of all our students.

Reviewing our district mission statement and goals, I would like to invite you to assist us. We are working with standards that are high and rigorous. This might be a challenge to some of our students. Please ask your child about school and homework. One of my main focuses is uniting us in purpose and goals. We have to know where we are going and know when we have arrived. I invite you to assist with building “Strong community partnerships that lead to well-balanced students”.

As I work with students, parents, staff, and community members I know beyond a shadow of doubt, we are all dedicated to the future success of our students.

The below statements give direction for our district in how we approach students and community. I would welcome parent and community assistance in meeting any or all of the goals. Please feel free to become involved in your schools and district for the future success of our students.
